I wake up to a clattering sound,
to find it's raining yet again.
Silvery droplets tirelessly pound,
only to melt against the window pane.
Streaks of clouds in eastern sky, quite grey
it's not quite dawn, a hint, a reddish flush
visible through dawn's unruly mane, quite stray
like the forbidden glimpse of a maiden blush
Outside the streets are pristine, gleaming
I sit on the steps of my house & wonder
vagaries of the road may have a meaning
Never did once I stop; never did I ponder.
The clap of thunder, like an army's advance
The wind ruffles my hair, an invisible hand
The trees sway, drunk in the moment, in a trance
bewitched to a heavenly conductor's wand
Rain clouds jostle, sashay, spiral around
Rushing from the heavens, in a enticing dance
Sending forth pearl drops, glistening and round
Heaven and earth locked in a strange kind of romance
Penance of summer over, the skies cry out loud
It's nature's turn to rejoice, and seeds be sown
I try to smile once again, it's just the sound
I like to hear, walking alone every dewy morn
