The Promise of Dawn

I wake up to a clattering sound,
to find it's raining yet again.
Silvery droplets tirelessly pound,
only to melt against the window pane.

Streaks of clouds in eastern sky, quite grey
it's not quite dawn, a hint, a reddish flush
visible through dawn's unruly mane, quite stray
like the forbidden glimpse of a maiden blush

Outside the streets are pristine, gleaming
I sit on the steps of my house & wonder
vagaries of the road may have a meaning
Never did once I stop; never did I ponder.

The clap of thunder, like an army's advance
The wind ruffles my hair, an invisible hand
The trees sway, drunk in the moment, in a trance
bewitched to a heavenly conductor's wand

Rain clouds jostle, sashay, spiral around
Rushing from the heavens, in a enticing dance
Sending forth pearl drops, glistening and round
Heaven and earth locked in a strange kind of romance

Penance of summer over, the skies cry out loud
It's nature's turn to rejoice, and seeds be sown
I try to smile once again, it's just the sound
I like to hear, walking alone every dewy morn

Bedouin Song

I have wandered across many lands
trudged my way across countless sands
With nothing but my loneliness as a friend
Life seems a stranger, left alone to fend

I hope to see someone, maybe a smiling face
Among the sea of people, lost in a race
to grab a share of world, a spot under the sun
with hopes of a false tomorrow, they all run

Memories still remain, of a home I remember
A land of cotton white clouds, sunrays color of amber
Now it's memory lost, spoken softly, a muted whisper
Smiling faces and laughter unrestrained a distant blurr

I know is I have to press on, relentless in my pursuit
To the land of thousand suns, to the land of my roots
to breathe it's scented air, to swim in it's streams
to soar like an eagle, far away to the land of my dreams

God is infinite, so His universe must be too. Thus is the excellence of God magnified and the greatness of His kingdom made manifest; He is glorified not in one, but in countless suns; not in a single earth, a single world, but in a thousand thousand, I say in an infinity of worlds.......

The Hidden Warrior

I've been beaten down, I doubt
By the words of men with no moral ground
Caged in a citadel of my self doubts
A free bird, my mind shackeled and bound

To remind me of all that's real
I spent a day by the flowing river
Something about the way air stood still
motionless and cold, makes me shiver

I see a familiar face in the water
humble, ragged but willing to fight
I saw the will of a warrior
His yoke is easy, His burden is light

He looked, straight in the eye
unwavering and steady, he held his sight
Unspoken words, concise to remind me
To always be just, do what was right

Slowly the face fades away, lost in the ripples
And I turn, the journey is long and I see my way
Next time i see this face, i'll ask
So won't you come inside And never go away

Inspired by the times I've been trampled on
It's my pride now, which sings a vengeful song
I closed my eyes, I begin to pray
Give me strength O Lord, to fight another day

A hidden strength flows through me
I know I'll have to walk alone
I know not what the stars have destined
All I know I might not make it home

Mortal as I am, I know that I am born for a day. But when I follow at my pleasure the serried multitude of the stars in their circular course, my feet no longer touch the earth.......

The fact that a believer is happier than a skeptic is no more to the point than the fact that a drunken man is happier than a sober one.....

"The land of dreams and romance, of fabulous wealth and fabulous poverty, of splendour and rags, of palaces and hovels, of famine and pestilence, of genii and giants and Aladdin lamps, of tigers and elephants, the cobra and the jungle, the country of hundred nations and a hundred tongues, of a thousand religions and two million gods, cradle of the human race, birthplace of human speech, mother of history, grandmother of legend, great-grandmother of traditions, whose yesterday's bear date with the modering antiquities for the rest of nations-the one sole country under the sun that is endowed with an imperishable interest for alien prince and alien peasant, for lettered and ignorant, wise and fool, rich and poor, bond and free, the one land that all men desire to see, and having seen once, by even a glimpse, would not give that glimpse for the shows of all the rest of the world combined....."
